Hello Fellow Rotarians, it’s been a month since my last President’s Report and rather than listen to Jimmy D. cry and complain it’s easier just to write one.
***GREAT NEWS**** Our Matching Grant for the Bahay Bata Computer Lab was approved by RI on May 1st. Now the real work of filling out the forms begins. I would like to meet with Dr. Brian Tan, Carl Chiulli, Jim Sebree, Mark Smith, Doc Froi and Gloria Nethercutt for help on filling out these forms as quickly as possible.
Our Social Worker Divine has officially resigned and we have hired an RSW Memory Anderson-Buyagao. Carl and I met with her at the Center on Saturday morning and she will fit in very well. She’s due to start on 16th June 2008.
The GSE Team was very impressed with our Club’s hospitality and, especially, with our project. They were housed at the Angeles Sports & Country Club along with dinners at C’s Italian, ASCC and the Country Kitchen. All of our members who participated should receive a pat-on-the-back, especially, Ron & Glo Nethercutt for all of the hard work they put into scheduling the GSE Teams Program.
One way to show our appreciation to the Nethercutt’s is by attending the Villa de Bacolor Charter Presentation at the King’s Royal on May 8th at 7pm and help welcome this new Rotary Club into our District of 3790 and by attending...
…DISTAS which is being sponsored by RC Mabalacat this year. We need to start thinking about registering for this event. It will be held at the Oxford Hotel – Clark on May 24th and 25th, 2008.
On May 9th @ 4PM, Director Erling Rune will be launching the opening of his new Norwegian Maritime Services Training Institute located at Clark Polytechnic College (next to the Clark Aviation Building). This is a training center for cook’s and mess boy’s to be hired the Norwegian Shipping Companies to man their container, oil and freighter ships. Among the dignitaries attending will be Pampanga Governor Ed Panlilio, Congressman Carmelo Lazatin and CDC President Levy Laus. It would be very nice to have a good showing of support for our Fellow Rotarian Erling. The festivities will include dinner.
The Hong Kong Welsh Male Choir will be performing at the Immaculate Conception Church on Saturday May 10th – 7pm and at the Orchid Inn-Poolside on Sunday at 6:30pm with tickets for the BBQ for only P300, with all of the proceeds being donated to the Angeles Bahay Bata Center by the Choir. This has become an annual event for the Choir and we need to show our appreciation by showing up for their performances.
