The President’s Report – May 13th, 2008
Rtn Lionel Clayton is on medical leave and we wish him a speedy recovery. Sec. Rey is in the USA for a month and we wish him a speedy return.
On Saturday, Joe Smith, was transferred to Nazareth Home for the Disabled in Mabalacat. The transfer went as well as can be expected since it was a very emotional event. Joe has been with us at our Center practically since it opened and it was very hard to see him go, especially for some of our members who have known him for so long.
On May 9th @ 4PM, Director Erling Rune launched the opening of his new Norwegian Maritime Services Training Institute located at Clark Polytechnic College (next to the Clark Aviation Building). This is a training center for cook’s and mess boy’s to be hired the Norwegian Shipping Companies to man their container, oil and freighter ships. Among the dignitaries attending was be Pampanga Governor Ed Panlilio who delivered the Invocation, Congressman Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin and Fr. Ocampo who blessed the school. We had a few Rotarians show up to give Erling a good showing of support. After the festivities we all enjoyed a great dinner provided by NMSTI’s kitchen. It was a very impressive Ceremony and we wish Rtn Erling all of the luck possible.
The Hong Kong Welsh Male Choir performed at the Immaculate Conception Church on Saturday May 10th – 7pm. The church was only about ½-full but the performance was fantastic. The Bahay Bata Ronellas Music Ensemble almost stole the show, the boys were great. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. At the Orchid Inn-Poolside on Sunday at 6:30pm, we had a full house out side by the pool and it the performances were a hugh success. The Choir was so impressed by their visit to the Center and by the enthusiasm of the audiences that they promised to come back next year. Our thanks to Dr. John and all of the Rotarians who helped make this event possible. Our hats are off to the Boys of the Rondellas for their outstanding performances.
…DISTAS which is being sponsored by RC Mabalacat this year. We need to start thinking about registering for this event. It will be held at the Oxford Hotel – Clark on May 24th and 25th, 2008.
That’s all I have for today folks, ….President Victor |
