The President’s Report – May 19th, 2008
The Hong Kong Welsh Male Choir who performed at the Immaculate Conception Church and Orchid Inn on May 10th & 11th managed to raise P42,000 for the Bahay Bata Center. It isn’t as much as we raised last year, but it is P42,000 that we didn’t have prior to the fundraiser. We as Rotarians fell short as far as planning, advertising and taking care of the Choir during this event, with me included. The Choir has expressed interest in returning next year from May 1st thru 3rd and we will welcome them. I had a good conversation with Kevin Wakely of the Orchid Inn and he would like to help in promoting the Choir better next year when they arrive. One more goal for us to aim for next year and we will get it right. We thank The Hong Kong Welsh Voice Choir for their undying efforts to support our Center.
DISTAS is being sponsored by RC Mabalacat this year. We need to start thinking about registering for this event. It will be held at the Oxford Hotel – Clark on May 24th and 25th, 2008. this weekend and I expect to see as many RCCC members as possible there.
We received the Miriam College Psychological Profile scores of our residents last Monday and they provide us with some very useful information about our kids which we will use to monitor their study habits. They offered some insights as to where our kids are emotional scale which will prove invaluable to our Head Teacher, Social Worker and Child Psychologist.
Our Teachers are back to work and preparing for the start of the School Year at ABBLC on June 2, 2008. Bro Rey has set up our 1st PTA Meeting of the school year for Friday May 23rd at 8:30am and at which time will advise the parents that we will be meeting at least once per month to discuss their duties at the Center and the progress of their children.
I attended our President-Elect’s Board of Director’s Meeting last Wednesday and it appears like they have everything under control for the next coming Rotary Year of 2008-2009. I was very impressed with how he has the whole year planned out already. I, as well as, our Club will support Joel and his BoD’s as much as we possibly can and in every way we can.
